An effluent pump that sits outside the tank has to pull liquid up before it can push it out to the field. The Monarch BE-S effluent pump does that from above ground, so you can reach it for service without lifting it out of a septic chamber.

The BE-S50 and BE-S75 Live On Under Little Giant
Two of the three sizes are still sold new. Little Giant, a Franklin Electric brand, sells the BE-S50 (item 621815) and the BE-S75 under the same model names. The 1/3 HP BE-S33 is not on Little Giant's current BE list, so send us its nameplate and we will confirm the current equivalent.
BE-S33, BE-S50 and BE-S75 Specs
All three use 1-1/4 inch NPT suction and discharge ports, with 1/2 inch priming and drain plugs. Flow is in gallons per minute.

Little Giant rates the current BE-S50 to 50 feet of maximum head and the BE-S75 to 56 feet. It lists the impeller as non-clog for 1/4 inch solids.
Built for Surface Effluent Work
The casing is cast iron, and the 4-vane semi-open impeller is gray cast iron. Its blind hole design keeps the pumped liquid off the stainless steel motor shaft, which protects the shaft threads from corrosion.
Motors are CSA approved, rated for continuous duty, and carry automatic thermal overload protection. The seal is a 5/8 inch carbon and ceramic mechanical seal.
Monarch listed the BE-S for septic tank effluent, basement drainage, livestock watering, flood irrigation and excavation dewatering. Little Giant lists pumping septic tanks to a leach field among its jobs today.
Type TM or Type A: Match the Parts to Your Pump
BE-S pumps were built in two versions, and the casing and check valve parts differ between them. Check the nameplate or compare your pump to the exploded diagram before ordering.

In the Type A list, BE models use C-face motors and BE-S models use square flange motors. A -B suffix adds float switch 633738 and an 8 ft cord, and an -SP suffix adds sump pump switch 225070 and float kit 463763.
The yellow 438492 casing and the 438105 impeller also appear on the Monarch B50S utility pump. Owners of both can stock one set of wear parts.
Buying a New BE-S50 or BE-S75
When the casing is cracked or the motor is gone, a new pump is the simpler fix. Our Little Giant surface effluent pumps include the BE Series under the same model names.
Effluent Pit Too Deep for a BE-S?
A BE-S has to lift liquid up to the pump before it can move it. If the effluent sits well below grade, or your system is designed around a pump that sits in the chamber, a submersible is the better fit.

How do I know if my BE-S is Type TM or Type A?
You know if your BE-S is Type TM or Type A by checking the nameplate or comparing the pump to the exploded parts diagram. The two versions use different casings and check valves. A Type TM pump takes casing 438391 and a check valve assembly (201056). A Type A BE-S50 or BE-S75 takes the yellow 438492 casing, with a separate check valve body (438415) and valve rubber (194390). Both use the same 240104 seal.
What is the maximum head capacity of the BE-S33, BE-S50 and BE-S75?
The maximum head capacity of the BE-S33 is about 45 feet, where Monarch's chart shows 2 GPM. Little Giant rates the current BE-S50 at 50 feet of maximum head and the BE-S75 at 56 feet. Flow falls well before that: at 40 feet the BE-S33 moves 9 GPM, the BE-S50 moves 16 GPM and the BE-S75 moves 29 GPM. Pick the size by the flow you need at your real head.
Is the Monarch BE-S33 dual voltage?
No, the Monarch BE-S33 is not dual voltage. The 1/3 HP BE-S33 is wired for 115 volt single phase power and draws 9.4 full load amps. If you need 230 volt operation, the BE-S50 and BE-S75 are dual voltage, at 12.4 or 6.2 amps for the BE-S50 and 14.8 or 7.4 amps for the BE-S75. Check the motor plate before wiring a replacement into an existing circuit.
