Which Monarch Gas Water Pump Do You Own?
Read the series letters on the data plate: MIG, TSP, NSGF, BSGF, NG or ACGF. Each Monarch gas water pump now has a Franklin Electric version with an F in front, such as FMIG or FACGF. Repair parts ship while stock lasts, and the Franklin model is the path when a casing is past saving.

Volume or Pressure: Two Kinds of Gas Powered Water Pump
Start with the job. Draining and transfer call for volume, while sprayers, irrigation and booster work call for pressure.
MIG, TSP and BSGF for Moving Water Fast
- MIG: a semi-trash pump with a priming plug, a built-in check valve, and a replaceable steel wear plate. Every MIG model has low oil shut-off.
- TSP: rated for up to 25 feet of suction lift. A full tank runs the TSP-2HRF about 1.65 hours, the TSP-3HRF about 2.2 hours, and the TSP-4V about 1.5 hours.
- BSGF: a light 2 inch or 3 inch gas water pump. Its blind hole impeller keeps the pumped liquid off the engine shaft, and the priming and drain plugs are ¾ inch.

NSGF, ACGF and NG for Pressure and Spraying
- NSGF: an enclosed impeller and a Viton and stainless steel seal for liquid fertilizer and ag chemicals. The NSGF-8 still moves 35 GPM at 80 PSI.
- ACGF: a thick-wall cast iron casing with an enclosed impeller. The listings name booster service, firefighting and ag spraying.
- NG: the impeller threads straight onto the Vanguard engine shaft. Bronze wear rings and zinc-plated shaft sleeves are replaceable.
The NG ships with a Buna-N seal. Viton, stainless steel and tungsten carbide seal materials were special order, so check what is in your pump before you order a seal.
Engine Details That Change the Order
- Low oil shut-off and electric start: both vary by engine. See the questions below for which models have them.
- Fuel tanks: they range from 3 quarts on the small Briggs and Stratton models to 9 quarts on the NG.
- Engine code: each engine has its own code number in the parts list, such as 202001 for the Honda 5.5 HP on the BSGF-10H.
If only the engine on your gasoline water pump is worn, the pump end may still be worth keeping. Send us both the pump model and the engine model.
When a Gas Engine Pump Is Not the Answer
- You already own a motor, engine or tractor PTO. A Monarch shaft driven pump bolts to the drive you have.
- You need a new pump today. The Franklin Electric engine driven pumps carry all six successor lines.
- You want to move fuel. These listings describe water, liquid fertilizer and ag chemicals as the liquids to pump, so ask us before pumping fuel.

Which Monarch gas pumps have low oil shut-off?
The Monarch gas pumps with low oil shut-off are the Honda-powered models, every MIG, and the NG. That covers the NSGF-5H and NSGF-8H, the BSGF-8H, BSGF-10H and 8BSGF-12H, the ACGF SDH models, and the TSP-2HRF and TSP-3HRF. The Briggs and Stratton NSGF, BSGF and ACGF models and the TSP-4V do not have it. If you are replacing an engine, match the shut-off feature you had.
What is the blind hole impeller on the BSGF?
The blind hole impeller on the BSGF is a 4-vane, semi-open gray cast iron impeller whose shaft hole does not go all the way through. Because the hole is closed on the water side, the liquid being pumped never touches the engine shaft. That protects the shaft from corrosion and wear, which matters when you move liquid fertilizer or ag chemicals. BSGF impellers are listed by model in the parts list, so send us your full model number.
Do the electric start Monarch gas pumps come with a battery?
No, the electric start Monarch gas pumps do not come with a battery or cables. That applies to the MIG30-13HES, MIG40-18K and MIG40-27K, the NG2-1/2 M9S-18V with its 12-volt start, and the TSP-4V. The NG and TSP-4V have a battery holder and cover in their parts lists, so a battery mounts on the frame. Buy the battery and cables separately, and ask us for the holder part if yours is missing.
