Two inch solids handling is the standard for residential and light commercial sewage work, and it is the specification that makes these pumps suitable for raw waste rather than effluent or groundwater. The impeller and passages are sized so that what a toilet discharges goes through without jamming.

Choose the horsepower on the lift and the run rather than on the size of the building, since a basement bathroom close to the sewer line needs far less pump than one at the end of a long horizontal run.
