Reading an EPE or EPT Model Number
Take the EPE12K1H as an example. Each part of the code tells you something you need for parts.
- EPE or EPT: E means electric motor driven, close-coupled. T means frame mount for a belt or coupling drive.
- 12: the discharge size times 10, so 12 is a 1-1/4 inch discharge.
- K or M: the impeller group. K is a 7-1/2 inch impeller and M is a 9-1/2 inch impeller.
- 1: the nominal flow. 0 is 75 GPM, 1 is 125, 2 is 250, 3 is 375, 4 is 500, and 5 is 600 GPM.
- H or M at the end: the speed. H is high speed and M is medium speed.

The M group models are rated for a maximum working pressure of 250 PSI. They pass small solids only, from 1/4 inch on the 12M1 to 3/8 inch on the 30M4 and 30M5.
Monarch EPE Pump Wear Parts
- Wear rings: every EPE and EPT has a replaceable wear ring. Codes come in cast iron and bronze, such as 409140 and 409141 for the K1 (2.00 inch ID) and 409164 and 409165 for the M4 and M5 (4.12 inch ID).
- Shaft sleeves: 409121 (1 x 1.38 inch) and 266016 (1.38 x 1.75 inch), stainless steel with an O-ring seal.
- Seals and packing: mechanical seals come in 1-3/8 and 1-3/4 inch sizes, with single, double, and tungsten carbide kits. Packing kits include the stuffing box, packing rings, and lantern ring.
- EPT power frames: the TR-1, TR-2, and TR-3 frames (409671, 409672, 409673) use 6307, 6309, or 6311 bearings.
Motor Options by Mount
JM motors run up to 15 HP, in ODP or TEFC enclosures. The JP frame carries the larger motors, up to 30 HP on the 4 x 3 inch 30M4.
The discharge flange rotates to eight positions, so a rebuilt pump can match the existing piping.
When an EPE Is More Pump Than You Need
