A 1 1/4 inch force main is a poor fit for whole solids, so the pump at the bottom of the basin has to cut them first. If your basin holds a Monarch grinder pump, it is a WS200G model. Can You Still Replace a Monarch WS200G Grinder?
Yes, but we confirm the replacement pump case by case. We have not verified a current model that replaces the WS200GM or WS200GAM one for one, so send us your model number and we will confirm the current equivalent. In the meantime, the parts below keep a working WS200G in service.

Monarch's datasheet lists both pumps at 2 HP, 230 V single phase, drawing 15 amps, with a 20 foot power cord.

How the WS200G Cuts and Pumps
Waste enters through the cutter, gets sliced into a slurry, and then the impeller pushes it up the line. Each part is built for that wear.
- Cutter: high chrome steel, two blades, hardened to 55 to 58 Rockwell C.
- Cutter ring: the stationary ring flips over for a second service life and can be replaced without taking the pump apart.
- Impeller: ductile iron, recessed and semi-open, with pump-out vanes that keep debris away from the seal.
- Seal: hard silicon carbide faces with NBR rubber parts for abrasion resistance.
- Shaft and fasteners: 410 stainless steel shaft and 304 stainless steel fasteners.
- Housing: cast iron motor and pump housing, with the cord sealed where it enters.
No Special Panel: Wiring a 2 HP Grinder
The WS200G motor is a capacitor start, oil-filled design with its start parts built in. It has automatic thermal overload protection and upper and lower ball bearings.
Because the start parts live inside the pump, Monarch says no special panel is needed. The WS200GAM runs on its own piggyback float, and the WS200GM works with an existing panel or a separate piggyback float rated for 2 HP at 230 V.

Grinder or Standard Sewage Pump for Your Basin?
A grinder earns its place when the waste must travel through a small pipe, uphill, or a long way to a pressure sewer. If your basin already drains through a 2 inch line to a nearby gravity sewer, a solids-handling pump is the simpler choice.

Why does my grinder pump keep tripping the circuit breaker?
A grinder pump keeps tripping the circuit breaker when the motor draws more current than the circuit allows. On a WS200G, check three things. First, confirm the breaker suits a 2 HP, 230 V motor drawing 15 amps. Second, check the cutter for a jam that stops the motor from turning. Third, test the start parts: the capacitor (246220) and centrifugal switch (246219) sit inside the pump. Shut off power before you touch the pump.
How do you unclog a grinder pump?
To unclog a grinder pump, shut off power at the breaker first, then lift the pump out of the basin. A WS200G ships at about 75 pounds, so plan on two people. Clear rags or debris from the cutter and inlet by hand or with a tool, never with the power on. Check the cutter ring while it is out: Monarch made it reversible, and a worn ring (246226) can be flipped or replaced without taking the pump apart.
