The number after "WS" tells you the horsepower, and an H means high head. Shut-off head is the height where flow drops to zero, from Little Giant's current listings.

Three phase WS102 models are manual only. They need an outside control panel with overload protection.

How to Read a Monarch WS Model Number

Monarch's parts sheet breaks the model number into parts. Take WS50HAM-12-20 as the example.

• WS is the series.
• 50, 52, 100 or 102 is the horsepower code: 50 and 52 mean 1/2 HP, 100 and 102 mean 1 HP.
• H means high head.
• AM means automatic with a float switch, and M means manual.
• -12 is phase and voltage: the first digit is the phase (1 or 3), and the second is the voltage (1 = 115 V, 2 = 208-230 V, 4 = 460 V, 5 = 575 V).
• -20 is the cord length in feet.

On an older WS52, also read the motor code. Code 223151 points to a Type B pump and 223161 to a Type D, and their impellers and volutes differ.

These codes come from Monarch's repair parts lists. The 5/8 inch mechanical seal, 240160, fits every model in the table.

When a WS Sewage Pump Is the Wrong Pick

A sewage pump passes solids whole, so it needs a 2 inch line and a run it can push through. Three jobs call for something else.
