FAC 3–5 HP Features & Specifications

The cast iron volute has a drain provision and can be oriented to suit installation. Franklin’s 3–5 HP technical sheet identifies CF8M stainless-steel enclosed impellers, 3600 RPM JM-frame motors and mechanical seals with FKM elastomers. Confirm construction against your exact model and pump revision when ordering service parts.

Hydraulic sizing: Franklin’s 3–5 HP series documentation gives limits of up to 150 GPM, up to 160 feet of head, a 120 PSI maximum working pressure and a 212°F maximum fluid temperature. These ratings are not a guarantee that all maximum values occur at the same duty point. The 3 HP and 5 HP impeller trims and curves differ.

Franklin’s current 3–5 HP series literature identifies CF8M stainless-steel impellers, while some older FAC parts listings describe cast iron construction for these same positions. Check the pump’s model, build/serial data and the current replacement-parts drawing before ordering an impeller or substitute assembly.

Important: The source repair matrix includes part numbers for the pump case, impellers, mechanical shaft seal, shaft sleeve, washers, plugs and motor-adapter hardware. Motor frame selection and motor replacements are not interchangeable with the ½–2 HP FAC line.

Dimensions and shipping weights vary between single- and three-phase configurations. Use the diagram and the original dimension table when checking base space, access and pipe routing. Manufacturer dimensions are for estimation; verify your ordered motor enclosure and fit.

Use your system’s required gallons per minute at total dynamic head to choose between the FAC-300 and FAC-500. Allow for suction-side losses; do not rely solely on the maximum capacity or shut-off head.

Applications & Installation

• Water circulation and transfer: Match materials, fluid temperature and performance curve to the duty point.
• Pressure boosting: Size using the required discharge pressure and the available inlet head.
• Spray and irrigation: Use the operating curve to establish flow under the expected nozzle and piping resistance.
• Jockey-pump or other regulated service: Use only where the particular pump model and complete system satisfy applicable specifications and codes; the series description is not itself a certification.

Provide adequate suction supply and prime the pump and suction piping in accordance with the motor and pump installation instructions. Do not run dry or pump incompatible liquids on the basis of seal-elastomer material alone.

What horsepower sizes are available?

What are the suction and discharge connection sizes?

Both the FAC-300 and FAC-500 use 2-inch NPT suction and discharge connections.

Is the FAC-300S 115/230V or 230V only?

Franklin’s current FAC-300S listing specifies single-phase 115/230V. An older Kendisco table stated 230V only, so check the actual motor nameplate and installation instructions before connecting power.

What material are the 3 and 5 HP impellers?

Current Franklin literature lists CF8M stainless-steel enclosed impellers. Some earlier parts sheets describe cast iron. Match the exact model and revision when ordering replacement impellers.

Are the FAC-300K and FAC-500K complete pumps?

No. They are pump-end kits and should be matched to the proper JM motor configuration.

Can I use ½–2 HP FAC replacement parts?
