RM2 Pump Performance: Compare Flow at the Same Duty Point

A model’s horsepower does not tell you its actual delivery at the pressure tank. The flow values below are taken from published RM2 shallow-well data at 5 ft suction lift and 50 PSI discharge pressure. At greater lifts or different pressures, use the full pump curve when selecting the pump.

The 1RM2-T has its own three-phase motor configuration. Verify the applicable curve and operating point for that model when requesting sizing assistance. The series maximum of 23 GPM does not apply to every model at 50 PSI.

Shallow-Well vs. Deep-Well RM2 Configuration

Shallow-well RM2 pump installation

For shallow-well service, the pump uses its internal injector and appropriately sized, airtight suction piping. The important measurement is the vertical lift from the pump to the water level while pumping, not the drilled depth of the well. This configuration is generally used for pumping lifts up to 25 ft.

Deep-well RM2 pump and injector installation

For deep-well service, the internal injector is replaced with a bypass arrangement and a separate external injector is installed with the required two-pipe setup. Both Franklin Electric series are above-ground cast iron convertible pumps. The RM2 adds a 1 HP option and a three-phase model, as well as the removable 56C motor coupling.
