Plenty of liquids sit in this band: treated water, mild solutions, coolants and process water that would slowly eat a cast iron pump without justifying the cost of highly corrosive construction. These units handle that duty with sealless magnetic drive, so there is no mechanical seal to wear or leak.

The sealless design is worth understanding even outside chemical work, because the mechanical seal is the component that fails first on a conventional pump.
